Long Nights, Short Days.

The moon rules winter. Nothing is lovelier than moonlight on the snow, and nothing more foul than sunlight glaring into your eyes off the same snow.

First Frost

Last night it was cold and I saw a moth struggling to fly around, slowly freezing. I once found hundreds of empty snail shells under the dead leaves in the woods. Being an invertebrate must suck.

Foxes at Sunset

I was living in Monona, Wisconsin with Jim Silvers and my brother Andy when I painted this. I remember sitting on a huge couch and putting the t.v. on. House and American Idol were on that night. Everyone stopped playing guitar and doing whatever else they were doing and watched t.v. with me.

Newlyweds

Everyone said this couple looked just like my brother, Aaron and his wife Jannea. I painted it about a year after they were married. So...I guess it is them. Five years later they are still married. I will take credit for that too.
